Women and child care prioritized in Muntinlupa medical mission
Over 1,751 patients benefited in SM Foundation’s medical mission held in SM Center Muntinlupa on April 15, 2015. Sixteen volunteer doctors lent their expertise through free dental extractions and other medical procedures such as urinalysis, x-ray, electrocardiograph, complete blood chemistry, complete blood count, and bone density testing. Meanwhile, volunteer employees from SM Center Muntinlupa helped in dispensing medicines and vitamins to patients.
SM Foundation continues to bring its medical and dental services to its 1,045th medical mission to date
Representatives from the City Health Office of Muntinlupa also conducted lectures on Women’s Health while the Chummy Chum Foundation, SM Foundation’s constant partner in medical missions, entertained and passed out free popcorn, chocolate drinks and candies to children.
During the event, 100 children, ages 1 to 6, were vaccinated for measles while 50 women underwent pap smears and breast exams for free. Patients also availed of other medical services via SM Foundation’s mobile clinic which included 87 dental extractions, 50 urinalysis, 78 x-rays, 59 ECGs and 14 blood sugar tests.
In support of the Philippines’ commitment to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, SM Foundation focuses on providing underserved communities access to basic medical and dental services through its medical missions as well as renovation and rehabilitation of old and dilapidated health facilities into Felicidad T. Sy Wellness Centers.
To date, SM Foundation has already conducted a total of 1,045 medical missions and rehabilitated 102 FTS Wellness Centers.
