SM Foundation’s Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan goes to Tagaytay Highlands!

SM Foundation, Inc. and Belle Kaagapay, Belle Corporation’s corporate social responsibility arm, have partnered to provide a livelihood training program and assistance to members of surrounding communities of the Tagaytay Highlands Complex through SM Foundation’s farmers training program Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan.

After completion of the 12-week training exercise comprised of technical briefings and actual field practice, the participants who are mostly from Tanauan, Batangas are now equipped with practical and sustainable farming technology as well as marketing and selling techniques which will afford them with improved productivity.

The training shall allow farmers to apply what they have learned and derive a livelihood out of such. To support this, Belle has invited them to use at least 5,000 square meters of its land free of charge for organic fruits and vegetables to grow.  The aim is to provide a livelihood program for these farmers and at the same time adopt a farm-to-market concept where the yield from the farm shall be supplied to the different food and beverage outlets of Tagaytay Highlands.

Since September 2014, Belle Kaagapay remains committed to uplifting the lives of its host communities.  This partnership with SM Foundation validly supports Belle Kaagapay’s advocacy in providing its host communities sustainable and easy-to-replicate activities that will produce empowered and productive individuals.
