SM Foundation opens scholarship application for School Year 2015-2016

SM Foundation, the advocacy arm of the SM Group of companies, is now accepting applications for the SM College Scholarship Program for school year 2015-2016.

The SM College Scholarship Program started with the vision of SM patriarch Henry Sy, Sr.—to send one child from a less fortunate family to college.  After graduation and upon employment, this child could send one sibling to school and thus help provide a better future for the family.

Starting with only 100 scholars in 1993, the SM Scholarship Program has produced over 1,900 graduates to date. Now in its 21st year, the Foundation continues to provide poor yet deserving students a chance for a better future through higher education. Currently, there are 1,450 SM Scholars enrolled in the Foundation’s 82 partner colleges and universities, nationwide.

How to apply

The SM College Scholarship Program is open to fourth year public high school students who have a weighted average of at least 88% by the second or third grading period. The applicant must belong to a family with an annual income of PHP 150,000 at most.

The following documents must be submitted along with the SM College Application form:

  • A clear photocopy of the applicant’s F138 or 4th year high school report card with the second or third grading period’s weighted average

  • A photocopy of the applicant’s household’s latest Income Tax Return or Certificate of Non-filing of Income
