SM Donates COVID-19 Test Kits to Baguio City

(SM Group representative Janssen Pe formally turned over several COVID-19 test kits, which are for deployment to Baguio General Hospital, to Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong.)

In support of mass COVID-19 testing, SM donates local PCR test kits for 4,000 tests to Baguio City.

Through SM Foundation, and in coordination with DOH, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and the test kit producer Manila Healthtek, Baguio General Hospital is one of the first recipients of local GenAmplify PCR test kits and is among the hospitals SM is donating P 30M worth of test kits to, equivalent to 20,000 tests.

(Manila Healthek representatives conducted training for Baguio General Hospital staff on how to use the COVID-19 test kits donated by SM)

These Manila Healthtek GenAmplify PCR test kits have been much awaited, not only because it is developed by UP-NIH scientists and is a great homegrown response to the fight against COVID-19, but local production will further bolster much-needed mass testing requirements of the country.

(Actual turnover of test kit donations from SM to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center.)

SM Foundation has also provided Baguio General Hospital with supplemental testing accessories they need, including hyper filter tips, system racks, and cryovials.  Previously, the foundation has also sent a BGH 1 ICU-grade ventilator and two shipments of PPEs, including full suits, gloves, masks, and alcohol.
