SM Foundation and partners Forever 21, Global Hope Inc., and TTokamsa Mission Church recently turned over two 2-storey, 20-classroom school buildings to Pedro E. Candido Memorial High School in Hernani, Eastern Samar.
A fifth-class municipality in the province of Eastern Samar, Hernani is comprised of 13 barangays with a population of 8,070. Three hours away from Tacloban City proper, the Pedro E. Candido Memorial High School has been a central educational establishment to many communities, leading to over 900 enrollees before it was damaged by Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) in 2013.
The two new buildings of Pedro E. Candido Memorial High School consist of one 2-storey school building called Forever 21 building which houses nine classrooms, one library, and one Korean Cultural Center while the other is a 2-storey building called Global Hope building composed of ten classrooms.
To date, SM Foundation has already donated 67 school buildings with 196 classrooms since its school building program started in 2002.
