Reconstruction of 85-year-old AdNU building begins

Present at the groundbreaking ceremony were SM Supermalls Senior AVP for Mall Operations-South Luzon Engr. Jason Terrenal, AdNU VP for Higher Education Dr. Digna Alba, Naga City Mayor and AdNU Board Member Leni Robredo, AdNU Board Chairman Magno Edilberto Conag III, AdNU President Fr. Aristotle C. Dy, SJ, and AdNU Senior High School Principal Dr. Lydia T. Goingo.
The Henry Sy Foundation, Inc. (HSFI) and Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU) have broken ground for the reconstruction of the university’s 85-year-old administration building at the Bagumbayan Campus, marking the start of a project expected to benefit future generations of Bikolano students.
The structure, which has served multiple functions since its construction, includes classrooms, a chapel, a library, faculty rooms, and a science laboratory. The project aims to restore the historic building while adding new facilities to expand services for students, alumni, and partner communities in the region.
Once completed, the structure will be called the Henry Sy Sr. Hall in honor of the late SM Group founder.
Meanwhile, the HSFI has supported several educational infrastructures over the years, including Henry Sy Sr. Building at the Immaculate Conception Academy, San Juan; Henry Sy Sr. Innovation Center, Miriam College, Quezon City; Henry Sy Sr. Primary School Building, Xavier School, Laguna; National University (NU) Nazareth School, Manila; NU Sports Academy, Calamba; Henry Sy Sr. Hall, University of the Philippines (UP) Professional Schools, Bonifacio Global City; Henry Sy Sr. Hall, De La Salle University Manila; Henry Sy Sr. Hall, UP Manila; Henry Sy Sr. Hall, University of Santo Tomas; Quezon Hall, West Visayas State University; and the Philippine School for the Deaf, Pasay City.
