New batch of farmers begins agri training in Cebu

SM Foundation welcomes KSK-SAP Batch 291 from Brgy. Mambaling in Cebu City

SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI), the social good arm of the SM group, launched its Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan on Sustainable Agriculture Program (KSK-SAP) in SM City Seaside Cebu on Sept. 21, 2023.

The new batch will train 25 farmer-beneficiaries in a 14-week comprehensive program on technology updates, capacity building, financial literacy, livelihood development, and market opportunities, empowering them to be agripreneurs.

This follows the mission of SM group founder Henry “Tatang” Sy Sr. to create a sustainable program that would update farming skills, food security, and sustainable livelihood know-how of low-income Filipino farmers to uplift their lives.

SM Foundation Asst. Vice President for Livelihood and Outreach Cristie Angeles shares words of encouragement as they welcome a new batch of KSK-SAP farmer-trainees.

Since the program's inception in 2007, the vision of Mr. Sy has evolved into a holistic training program that now helps create opportunities and paves the way for skills enhancement, livelihood, and employment.

It has also fueled the farming and entrepreneurial capabilities of over 28,000 marginalized rural and urban farmers nationwide, with some of the graduates becoming seasonal suppliers within the SM group and other local markets.

SM Foundation’s KSK-SAP is conducted in partnership with SM Supermalls, TESDA, DA, DSWD, DOST, DTI, and partner farm schools.
