Foundation hosts Mass Wedding for Employees
The Felicidad T. Sy Foundation, Inc. (FTSyFI), SM Foundation’s division for religious affairs, held its first mass wedding for SM employees at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Pasay City, with 14 couples receiving the Sacrament of Matrimony last September 29, 2014.
“The mass wedding program started as a pre-requirement for employees to qualify for the Lectors’ Training Program,” Imelda Elido, FTSyFI head of religious affairs, said. “However, due to the positive response from other employees, we have decided to extend the program to those outside of the (SM) Ministry group.”
Earlier this year, the SM Catholic Ministry rolled out its first-ever Lectors’ Training Program for employees serving as readers and lectors at the 32 SM malls celebrating the first Friday and Sunday masses nationwide. As a prerequisite for them to receive the training, applicants with partners must provide a marriage contract signed by the Catholic Church in addition to the accomplished application form.
“Another mass wedding will be held in the third quarter of 2015 to accommodate requests from SM Employees as well as for those who were not able to complete the required documents for the first mass wedding,” added Elido.
Since 2008, the FTSyFI has been promoting spiritual growth and wellness through its various religious projects both inside the company and in the communities it serves.
