First batch of scholars join SM Foundation College Scholarship Program

New SM scholar Kenneth Gayagomes and his father Hugo were all smiles as they signed the contract to formalize Kenneth’s scholarship grant from SM Foundation last April 8, 2015. A total of 145 students from NCR and nearby areas of Bulacan, Baliwag, Sta. Rosa, Calamba, San Pablo and Cavite, were welcomed as SM Foundation’s first batch of scholars for school year 2015-2016.

275 scholars expected for school year 2015-2016

Signing for other areas, namely Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, Southern Luzon and the Visayas, are expected to be completed by the end of April.

Kenneth will be taking up Computer Engineering in National University. Like other SM scholars, he will be provided a full scholarship grant with monthly allowance. SM scholars can also choose to work part-time in SM malls to get relevant work experience and help augment their allowances during Christmas and summer breaks. Upon graduation, scholars are also extended the opportunity of joining the SM Group through an exclusive job offer event.

To date, SM Foundation has produced over 1,900 graduates under its scholarship program. It currently supports 1,500 scholars in its 83 partner schools nationwide.
