Chapel of the Miraculous Medal Dedicated and Blessed
Residents of Heneral Uno, a socialized housing community of SM and of Sitio Caimitohan in General Trias, Cavite lauded the construction of the Chapel of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal which was dedicated and blessed by Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista of the Diocese of Imus recently with its donor, Felicidad T. Sy as Guest of Honor.
With the construction of the new Chapel, Catholic residents of the community need not go far to participate in religious activities including the obligatory Sunday mass. The Chapel will be under the supervision of the parish of San Vicente Ferrer of Mangahan under Fr. Ariel Lisama.
Heneral Uno is a socialized housing community of SM comprising of 2,365 houses. So far, 907 have been constructed and sold, 50 of them fully occupied. The donation of the chapel to serve the spiritual needs of those living in the community manifests the religious advocacy of the matriarch of the Sys, Felicidad T. Sy. She had likewise donated a Chapel in honor of Filipino Saint, Pedro Calungsod located in the SM Seaside Complex in Cebu as well as a chapel of the Saint in the NU campus and a Chapel at the SM Aura. The church beside the MOA, Jesus, the Way, the Truth & the Life is one of the monumental churches donated by the matriarch after a Papal Visit in 1995. The Chapel of the Eucharistic Lord in SM Megamall is also one of the “babies” of Mrs. Sy. It is now a venue of worship for the numerous mall shoppers. It has a separate Adoration Chapel and a children’s Room. Other projects of the Sy matriarch is her support of the Regina Rosarii Shrine in Tanay, the Mary Help of Christian Theology Seminary in Dagupan, the Kamay ni Hesus Pilgrimage Site in Lucban & many other church-related endeavors.
Among the special guests during the occasion were Mayor Antonio Ferrer of Gen. Trias and Representative Luis Ferrer IV, Fr. Bernie Gasilo of Trece Martirez, and members of the Municipal Board of Gen. Trias. Also present were were members of the SM family headed by Josemarie Banzon, AVP of SMDC, Lynn O. Sy, President of Summerhill Dev, Corp., Cecille Badiola also of Summerhill Dev. Corp., Glen Ang of SM Supermalls, Rose Siaco of SMIC and Mel Elido of SM Foundation.
