Uniqlo Philippines, SM Foundation distribute relief packs

Uniqlo Philippines through SM Foundation's Operation Tulong Express (OPTE) program distributed more than 16,300 Kalinga packs to over 80 grassroots communities located in 50 cities nationwide from March to May 2020.

The relief goods form part of Uniqlo Philippines’ pledge of Php 10 million donations to SM Foundation that will be used to provide support for communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from the relief packs, the said aid will also be used for the purchase of PPEs for frontliners serving the nation amidst the pandemic.

Cities and provinces who received the Kalinga packs through this social good collaboration include the National Capital Region (NCR), Baguio, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Pampanga, Palawan, Cebu, Leyte, Bacolod, Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro, and General Santos City.

Last April, almost 200 members of the Foundation for These-abled Persons Inc. (FTI), a non-profit also received Kalinga packs to help them get through the enhanced community quarantine. The organization aims to promote the employment and empowerment of persons with disability (PWDs). They have been a partner of SMFI in producing furniture for its School Building Program.

OPTE is a social good program of SM Foundation in collaboration with SM malls, Savemore, and SM supermarkets. The program aims to address the immediate needs of SM’s host communities during calamities and crisis.
