Building healthy communities through the Felicidad Sy Wellness Center Program

SM Foundation turned over its 120th Felicidad Sy Wellness Center at Concepcion, Tarlac on October 7, 2016. The newly renovated and refurbished municipal health center now has a Felicidad Sy Wellness Center for Children and Elderly, a reception area, a newly improved consultation room, a treatment room, a nurses’ room, a records/supply room and a Tuberculosis-Directly Observed Treatment Strategy (TB-DOTS) room at the ground floor. The second floor now has an upgraded dental room, an equipped laboratory, and a spacious and comfortable patients’ waiting area.

“To enjoy good health is important to everyone. We want the communities in Concepcion, Tarlac to feel secure that they have access to quality health and medical services,” said Connie Angeles, SM Foundation Executive Director for Health and Wellness Programs. “Along with the turnover of the Felicidad Sy Wellness Center, we conducted a medical mission so that they could feel the immediate benefits of the health services this center can provide.”

This is the 30th community health center upgraded by SM Foundation, along with its other projects such as hospitals, hospice centers and soldiers’ health facilities. The two-storey, 231 square-meter health center caters to 45 barangays with a total population of about 145,000 persons and serves an average of about 150 patients a day.

The Felicidad Sy Wellness Center aims to provide a comprehensive health program. The center is PhilHealth accredited for the TB-DOTS and the Out-patient Benefit Package (OBP). The SM Foundation Health and Wellness program also contributes to one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 which is to provide health and wellness to all.

“Our dream in SM Foundation is for every community to be a healthy community,” shared Angeles. “By regularly conducting medical missions and by renovating and refurbishing public health centers, we are able to help provide access to quality health and medical care to all, one community at a time.”
